10 Things I Know About...

This week for our final project of the year, (Yipee!) we are going to create a list of 10 things about someone, just like the Preacher did for India-Opal's mother. We'll look at that list today, and then make a list together. Later in the week, you are going to choose the name of someone out of a bag, and write your list. The identity of the person you are "listing" about will be top secret! (To everyone but me, and maybe Mr. Main, Mrs. Wilcox and Mrs. Riley) Do not tell the other kids who you have chosen! Both groups will take part in this and post their lists on the blog. Then the rest of the group will try to guess who you have described in their comments. If you have any questions feel free to comment here, but we will be discussing it in much more detail in class.

Tough topics in Because of Winn-Dixie

This story deals with some difficult topics...India Opal only has one parent, it appears her mother may have had alcoholism, she and the preacher do not have very much money, and her father doesn't seem to have a lot of time for her. I think it's pretty amazing she is such a positive outgoing young lady! Pick one of the topics mentioned, or another you may have noticed and comment on a connection or observation you have. Who is Your favorite Because of Winn-Dixie Character?

My favorite character is India Opal. She is my favorite, because she is brave and does what she thinks is right no matter what.I also like how she is so friendly and outgoing.She meets lots of people and makes friends easily.
